ABOUT PRIMA BAKERIES
Our History
Originally established in Scorrier in 1978, the business was purchased by the Norton Family in 2010. It is now run by Mark Norton, MD and Ross Buist, General Manager. Ross is the third generation of the founding Buist family to be involved in the business.
Prima is Cornwall’s fastest growing bakery business, it is now ten times the size it was in 2010. Prima wholesales to over 500 customers in Cornwall with 200 bakery product lines.
Provenance
Prima are proud to be a Cornish family business, employing local people to produce high quality craft bakery items. We use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible: our Cornish potatoes come from one farmer in Leedstown 8 miles away and our beef is Cornish and South West wherever possible.
We have an extensive food safety management system. All products have full traceability; retail lines are fully labelled, bar coded and with relevant allergen information. Prima are SALSA accredited with an in-house quality management and compliance team. Natasha’s Law information is readily available. We are signed up to Erudus.

Why Should Wholesalers Stock Prima Products?
All products are handmade using high quality ingredients and pastry made up to a family recipe for over 40 years.
Prima can’t be bought in major supermarkets like Tesco or Asda, you get a product made with love, not made to fit a price point. You cannot buy Prima Pasties from national foodservice companies - we like to work with regional wholesalers and family businesses.
In 2020, Prima bought Cornish Premier Pasties Ltd. The combined group is now the fourth largest Cornish Pasty Producer in the world.

All pasties are handmade using the traditional methods and have the distinctive side crimped D shape.
